Sofia Richie to launch fashion label

Sofia Richie is capitalizing on her 4.3 million Instagram followers who love her style and launching a fashion line. The newly minted designer will be launching Sofia Stone at the end of this summer on August 30. The initial launch will be a tight edit of 12 pieces including bodysuits, crop tops, velvet high-waisted pants and suits.

“I finally feel like I’m at the point in my life where I have so many creative ideas that I want to share and I’m bottled up,” Richie said to WWD. “Over the years, buying so many clothes and seeing what I liked and didn’t like and being in the modeling industry, I was around so many designers and I always took notes and tips from them. It came easily and I knew all the little things I wanted and didn’t want.”

Richie's new line is part of a collaboration with LA Collective, an American company that collaborates with influencers and celebrities for fashion collaborations. The collaboration with Richie is the company's next big partnership.

This collaboration isn't just a one-off like most fashion collaborations either. Richie plans to drop the pieces on a seasonal basis, with the second drop after August already planned for November. The line has been in production for over a year, with Richie determined everything they'd want and expect from her fashion line.

“Inside of each of the pants, I’ve done a ‘snatch yourself’ thing where you can pull it and adjust the waist to your waist so that people don’t have to get things altered,” Richie said to People. “(My followers) love the glamour shots. They love the glam, the extravagant outfits. I’m excited to shoot this collection and bring them these glamorous photos so they can fall in love with the clothes as much as I did.”

Richie is building herself into a full-scale brand, and it appears poised to work in her favor. The next logical step for most influencers is to convert those followers into clothing line cash.
