Sophia Tzelepis launches new denim

Designer Sophia Tzelepis has just launched her namesake denim line. Entitled Sophia, the designer introduces a retro, sophisticated vibe with the new venture.
Tzelepis emerged into a designer after her experience at feminine, contemporary brand Nicole Miller. She also previously worked at Rebecca Minkoff and Juicy Couture as a consultant. Taking the experience from working at these brands, it seems that Tzelepis has paved her own way in fashion with the Sophia denim launch. “I love denim and I saw a niche in the market for special, designer jeans,” she told WWD. Her line includes Italian luxury fabrics and is made in New York, where she has been based for most of her fashion career.
Currently, the denim line has not announced its pricing. The collection is inspired by fashion icons such as Jane Birkin, Francoise Hardy, and Jean Shrimpton, according to WWD. While the jean launch serves as her first denim endeavor, in the future Tzelepis may include menswear and home décor. She told the publication that using denim as a main focus of her line, those two category ventures are not out of the question.
