Amour Vert is expanding its sustainable clothing line to menswear, according to an announcement from the brand. According to an announcement from the brand, the new category will feature styles made with fabrics that are knit, dyed and finished in California with GOTS-certified organic cotton yarn.

According to Aaron Hoey, Amour Vert’s CEO, the decision to create a men’s collection came as a response to their customer’s need. “Our customer is our muse. We always listen and take into consideration their ideas,” he told FashionUnited in an email. “When they asked us to sustainably outfit the men in their life, we listened. We took ample time to decide which products were most important, and how they should be made.”

The line debuts with everyday pieces such as 100 percent organic cotton T-shirts and French Terry sweatshirts, which were made in Los Angeles.

“We worked with our partner mill in Los Angeles to develop the perfect 100 percent organic cotton jersey and Terry fabrics,” Hoey shared. “Organic cotton means that no toxic chemicals are used, it doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses 71 percent less water and 62 percent less energy than conventional cotton.” In addition, according to Hoey, Amour Vert’s T-shirts and sweatshirts were dyed using low impact dyes at a dye house that uses solar energy.
