The Corner (thecorner.com) gained recognition in the Los Angeles area around 2010. The Corner started as a menswear retail e-commerce store in 2008. The next year, Yoox Group introduced womenswear into the brand making its cloths available for both genders.

When The Corner started a collaboration with i-D Magazine, a British publication, it started to become more prevalent in the L.A. scene. Terry Jones, art director and founder of i-D Magazine, designed a photoshoot with L.A.’s lax style in mind. The Beverly Hills shoot debuted mid-May of that year evoking awareness of the brand’s presence in L.A.

In 2013, The Corner showed off a spring preview of its collection for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The showcase was an opportunity for the e-commerce store to display its pieces to the best emerging local designers.

Earlier this year, The Corner worked to build up a new reputation of the brand by creating the Vogue Talents Corner.com initative. The project was a four-day presentation of twelve designers that both Vogue Italia and TheCorner.com select to feature unique and surfacing talents. The selected designers showed their Fall 2015 collections during Milan fashion week, while their Spring 2015 pieces were sold on the e-shop. This way, the two coordinate together in order to create an efficient and profitable result. The company continues to grow by continually carrying brands in a way that local L.A. residents can easily access it.

The Corner launches new “No Gender” line; appeals to L.A. fashion

The Corner also has introduced a new collection entitled “No Gender” which will suit both men and women. The shop decided to end the dichotomy of men and women in fashion by launching this new unisex collection. As the fashion trend of asexual fashion emerges, the collection is set to help meet the demand of non-gender fashion.

This growing Los Angeles trend has been represented by local celebrity residents such as Kanye West and Harry Styles. Kanye West has been reported wearing designs from Céline, while Harry Styles has also been spotted wearing womens’ skinny jeans from Paige Denim. These select few L.A. celebrities are just a couple that have taken to the non-gender association fashion trend.
