Los Angeles - The Mia Project, which stands for “Made in America,” recently decided to bring in emerging Los Angeles brands to its retail store. The brand will host a Maker’s Month event this week as well as a pop-up including footwear brand Wal & Pai.

The Mia Project was founded by Micha Thomas and Jaime Lawson in an effort to bring back American-pride to aspiring creatives. The duo came together in Los Angeles to launch The Mia Project in 2012. The project’s main goal is to bring exposure to manufactures, designers, and artisans in America. This month, the organization is partnering with Detroit-based Shinola to present their Maker’s Month event.

The event features creative makers and creators of Los Angeles that can come together to discuss and mingle with fellow innovators. Participating brands include footwear brand The Palantines, Wal & Pai, and upscale retailer Shinola. The night will showcase the three brands and chronicle a couple of their own stories with some of The Mia Project’s favorite designers. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 5 at the Shinola Silverlake store location.

In addition to the Maker’s Month, Wal & Pai will host their pop-up shop over the course of this weekend. The Los Angeles-based brand will offer their artistic shoewear line made with fine leathers and materials. The progressive, minimal brand offers casual sandals, heels, flats and more. Currently the brand has flagships across the U.S. including cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and more. The pop-up will stay open from November 6-8.
