Toni, leather goods brand, incorporates leather-making workshops to help local artisans and crafters.

Toni Truong, designer of the bag and accessories line, set up the leather-working classes in order to help local crafters and artisans in the area. Known for their attention-to-detail and high-quality goods, Truong’s designer line is a suitable fit for teaching the tricks of the trade. “I am drawn to the process of creating a product with meaning and [purpose],” states Truong on her website. To encourage leather use as an artistic and useful item, the finery brand has expanded into teaching classes.

Their most recent event is the latest in a series of workshops that the brand has put on. The class was this past Sunday in Los Angeles. The class showed attendees how to hand-craft and make their own envelope clutch. Truong also partnered with Twig and Twine, floral design studio based in Silverlake, in order to make these classes accessible for locals. The classes taught students the skills of the trade when dealing with leather. The latest workshop dealt specifically with leather stamping, decorative stitching techniques, and hand-dye tanned leather. The class had beginnings as well as experts that attended.

Toni is a downtown Los Angeles-based leather goods line. The workshops by Toni in the past have incorporated making belts, cardholder wallets, sunglasses cases, moccasin shoes, and more. Truong, founder of the leather accessories brand, created the company after completing her education at Otis College of Art and Design based in Los Angeles. Toni is known for its utilitarian and stylish leather goods. Each piece is carefully hand-crafted locally sourced in their Los Angeles studio.
