Alessandro Benetton resigns from Benetton board

Alessandro Benetton, the son of co-founder Luciano Benetton, has resigned from the Board of Directors of the Benetton Group.

Rumours of Alessandro's departure, who is also the executive chairman of the group since 2013, first circulated in October, but were confirmed by La Tribuna di Treviso, an Italian newspaper.

The next board meeting will appoint the successor as chosen by its shareholders, which in all likelihood will not be a representative of the Benetton family.

Alessandro Benetton will keep the counselor seats in the Group's businesses Issue and Autogrill, in addition to continuing to work full time of their holding private equity, 21 Investimenti.

His resignation signifies Alessandro Benetton will not be involved in the current restructuring guidelines in Benetton's comeback.
