Betsey Johnson to undergo surgery with plans to return for Urban Outfitters launch

Designer Betsey Johnson, most known for her playful, whimsical, and feminine designs, will undergo open heart surgery, WWD reports. Johnson, a breast cancer survivor, kept the public well-informed about her previous battle with the illness and plans to do the same with heart disease.

Johnson’s surgery will take part on Thursday, April 4, with one of the leading heart surgeons at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to WWD. Her label, owned by Steve Madden, will get its own revival with Urban Outfitters. The retailer will be reintroducing one of Johnson’s collections from 1997, and will launch in June. The design plans to be recovered from the surgery and in New York for the occasion.
