The president of sportswear retailer Billabong has recently decided to leave the company. After working for the company for approximately nine years, Ed Leasure has decided to step down as president.

Leasure worked at the Australian-based company as head of U.S. retail operations since 2013. Working with Billabong for almost a decade, Leasure helped to solve long-term financial issues as well as takeover presidential operations and responsibilities. Leasure had succeeded Colin Haggerty for the position fulfilling the role temporarily at first until it became a permanent position for him. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, his reasoning for leaving the company was to pursue his personal passion of surfing. “After getting into the business to surf more, I’m not stepping back from the business to surf more,” he told the publication.

Taking over his place at the surfwear retailer will be brand president Shannon North. As reported by Apparel News, North will head the retailer’s U.S. operations for the time being. However, the wholesale and international development parts of the company will be operated by other senior executives from the company. Leasure will still serve as an ambassador and consultant for Billabong.
