Gabriela Hearst Names Giuseppe Giovannetti First CEO

Just ahead of New York Fashion Week, Gabriela Hearst has appointed its first chief executive officer, Giuseppe Giovannetti. As the former CEO to Tomas Maier and President of the Americas to Bottega Veneta, Giovannetti is more than ready to take on a leadership role with Gabriela Hearst, reporting to the board of directors and developing the brand’s global standing.

Gabriela Hearst launched her New York-based brand three years ago, and has since taken a hands-on approach with overseeing daily operations. Last year, Hearst brought Giovannetti on board as a consultant while scouting for a new CEO.

Hearst told WWD, “[Giovannetti] doesn’t compromise on quality, and in a world where everybody wants higher margins, to find a partner like this is incredible. Giuseppe has a strong cfo background and he’s Italian, which is important for managing all of our different suppliers. I consider myself a luxury designer, and if you don’t know where everything comes from and who your supplier is, then you don’t understand luxury.”
