Matthieu Caloni has been tapped by Galeries Lafayette to be the company's strategy and transformation director of their Galeries Lafayette and BHV Marais department stores. 41-year-old Caloni succeeds Marc Ricardi, who left the company.

Caloni's nomination took affect April 18, and he will report to Nicolas Houze, chief executive officer of the parent company Groupe Galeries Lafayette's department store division. Caloni is a member of the executive committee.

Most recently, the executive served as director of strategy and development for French jewelry retailer Thom Europe. Prior to that, he was a principal at Boston Consulting Group, and has also held various positions in the wine and spirits division of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

His goal will be to “anchor the ongoing transformation process in the management of the company,” according to a statement from Galeries Lafayette.
