John Ermatinger takes over as CEO for True Religion Jeans

True Religion, Los Angeles-based premium denim company, recently hired John Ermatinger as new chief executive officer as of June 1.

Ermatinger previously had been working for the company as interim senior vice president of global sourcing and production. Ermatinger will be replacing David Conn, previous chief executive officer. Conn is reported in a statement to be stepping down from his position. Ermatinger will build on the strategic initiatives that have been implemented with True Religion Jeans since TowerBrook’s acquisition in July 2013. Ermatinger will lead the way for the company in the next phase of development.

John Anderson, chairman of the True Religion board of directors, stated his approval of Ermatinger as the new choice. “His strong management skills, deep experience at leading apparel companies and appreciation for high quality product is the right combination to drive True Religion’s transformation forward,” said Anderson. Ermatinger’s experience with the company as a seasoned executive makes him a suitable fit for the position.

Previously, Ermatinger has served as chief executive officer for Tommy Hilfiger, president of Gap Inc., and also general manager of Nike. Since his promotion with True Religion, Ermatinger’ is working to build on the company’s already-built foundation. “I am impressed with all that True Religion has achieved since TowerBrook’s acquisition and I look forward to working with the company’s talented leadership and associates to further this success,” said Ermatinger.

True Religion is known for its premium denim and apparel. The company is also known for its quality and craftsmanship in manufacturing. The specialty denim company operates currently is over 128 stores in the United States and over 30 international stores. The company was founded in 2002 by Jeffrey Lubell. Currently, the store has over 1,000 employees. True Religion is based and headquartered in Vernon, California.
