Joanna Coles only just made her exit* from Hearst, but her replacement was already waiting in the wings. Kate Lewis has been named the new chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, hand picked by CEO Steven Swartz and Hearst Magazine's new president Troy Young.

In a statement to WWD, Swartz said, "With her strong background in both worlds, Kate is ideally suited to help our editors and producers take their products to the next level of excellence by finding new ways to collaborate."

Lewis was previously Hearst's senior vice president and editorial director of Hearst Digital Magazines. While she has maintained a much lower profile than her predecessor, this role will inevitably catapult her into the spotlight. With years of experience at women's magazines, she will definitely be putting her stamp on Hearst's major titles including Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and Marie Claire.
