Kering announces appointment of Sophie Maddaloni as general secretary
Luxury group Kering has announced the appointment of Sophie Maddaloni as general secretary, effective immediately from September 15, 2026. Based in Paris, she joins the company's executive committee and will report directly to Jean-Marc Duplaix, in his capacity as chief operating officer.
According to a statement sent to FashionUnited, Sophie Maddaloni will be responsible for steering the luxury group's governance and ensuring the protection of its interests. Her role includes implementing rigorous compliance standards. To do this, she will oversee several key departments: legal; internal control; internal audit; and security.
The group stated that she will perform these duties in close collaboration with the general management and the board of directors.
Who is Sophie Maddaloni?
Sophie Maddaloni has extensive experience gained at major international companies. She began her professional career in 1991 at Elf Aquitaine (now TotalEnergies), where she held various positions related to international taxation for over 10 years. Her career then took her to Alstom T&D in 2002 as vice president of tax, before joining the Technip group in 2004 to head up tax and legal entities.
She joined Kering in 2017 as the group's tax director. During her tenure, she led the transformation of this department and actively participated in strengthening the company's compliance and risk management systems.
Academically, Sophie Maddaloni holds a master's degree in business law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University, as well as a DESS (postgraduate diploma) in international business law and taxation from HEC Paris and the University of Sceaux.
