Levi Strauss & Co. taps former Nike executive to oversee retail

US denim giant Levi Strauss & Co. has tapped former Nike retail executive, Carrie Ask, to join the company as Executive Vice President and President of Global Retail, effective as of February 16, 2016.

In her new role, Ask will oversee all leading aspects of Levi's global retail arm, including its own store network, franchise stores and outlet stores. She has been charged with the task of increasing Levi's retail business, an area which has been highlight as an important global growth driver for the company. Ask will also report directly to Chip Bergh, President and Chief Executive Officer at Levi's.

"Carrie has demonstrated a successful track record of driving retail strategy and execution at leading brands," said Chip Bergh, in a statement."She’s recognized as a collaborative leader who delivers strong results and we know she’ll be a powerful addition to our team."

Ask joins Levi's from her former role at Nike, where she was vice president and general manager for store North America. During her tenure at Nike, Ask held numerous leadership roles at the company's subsidiary, Converse.

"I have long admired Levi Strauss & Co. for its iconic products, coveted brands, and leadership on social issues,” said Ask. "The opportunity to accelerate the growth of Levi Strauss & Co.'s direct-to-consumer business is an exciting challenge for the next phase of my career."
