Fashion designer Michael Kors is stepping away from his role on the board of Capri Holdings, the company behind his eponymous brand. Along with staring Kors’s label, the company also recently acquired luxury brands Jimmy Choo and Versace. The fashion designer founded his namesake label in 1981.

Formerly known as Michael Kors Holdings, Capri Holdings, which was sold to investors in 2003, changed its name this past December to reflect its status as a global fashion luxury group, after the acquisitions of Jimmy Choo in 2017 and Versace in 2018.

Though Kors will no longer be on the company’s board, he plans to stay on as an honorary chairman and chief creative office for the Michael Kors brand, focusing his sights on his own business.
