Michael Weiss joins Talbots board

Former chief executive officer of Express Michael Weiss has recently joined a new fashion company. As of September, Weiss is an official member of the board for fashion company Talbots Inc.

It was announced September 15, that he joined the company’s Board of Directors effective the first of this month. After holding the position of CEO since 1997 at Express, Weiss’s long-term experience in executive roles comes from the fashion company. He retired from Express in 2016, and has since moved on to Talbots to help propel the company forward. “[Weiss] has long been viewed as one of the retail industry’s most visionary, charismatic and inspiring leaders, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to join the Talbots’ Board,” Lizanne Kindler, chief executive officer of Talbots, said in a statement.

Previously he worked with Apparel Industries, Casual Corner, and Abraham and Strauss. He has also served on the board for other fashion retailers such as PacSun, Chico’s Collective Brands, and more. In joining Talbots' board, his mission will be to help build out the company. “I look forward to working closely with the Board, the management team and Talbots’ talented associates as the company continues to execute its business strategy and serve its loyal customers for years to come,” Weiss said in a statement.
