The Clio Image Awards recognizes some of the most outstanding names in the fashion and beauty industries. After a careful selection process, winners receive their prestigious awards at the Clio awards ceremony usually sometime around early May. This year, acclaimed fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier will be receiving the Clio Image Lifetime Achievement Award for his over 3 decades of success in the fashion industry.

Demarchelier has had quite the career having photographed everyone from Princess Diana (which lead to him being named the Princess’s official portraitist), to Beyoncé, to Madonna, to Hillary Clinton, to Michael Douglas, and Kanye West. Demarchelier’s recent photoshoot with Jennifer Lawrence for Vanity Fair made headlines across the industry and received critical praise. In addition to his list of notable names under his belt, Demarchelier has also shot quite his share of ad campaigns as well.

Some of the labels on his resumé include Chanel, Calvin Klein, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Armani. He has also worked with numerous magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Love just to name a few. With a very admirable career, Demarchelier was a no-brainer as a recipient of this award.

The recipients of the Clio Image Awards are decided after Clio executive team does a lengthy review of internal and industry recommendations. A figure as prominent as Demarchelier is sure to have his name come up on the recommendation list. The purpose of the Clio Image Awards is to recognize creativity in multiple forms. They aim to identify leaders who have showcased imagination, innovation, and inspiration in their respective fields. With such a long career history and so many big names to boast about Demarchelier is easily considered one of the most noteworthy people in his field.

“As one of the most iconic photographers of his time, Patrick Demarchelier’s work presents a timeless vision of the art and industry of fashion. His work has inspired passion for the craft as well as adoration for the brands and figures he has so brilliantly captured over the years,” Clio Nicole Purcell said. Purcell also revealed that her personal favorite items in Demarchelier’s collection of work would have to be Kate Winslet from Harper’s Bazaar in 1997 and the portrait of Princess Diana and her boys, both fabulous works from a great era in fashion and lifestyle portraits. Demarchelier will be receiving his award for his work on May 5th, 2015 in an awards ceremony hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen of Watch What Happens Live.

In the past the ceremony has even included special guest stars like Sarah Jessica Parker who received an honorary Clio Image Award last year. When asked what makes this award so important, Purcell said, “It is very important to recognize this caliber of creative excellence—for both the artist and those we may be on a similar professional path. This specialty award and the Clio Image program serve to recognize, inspire and motivate.”

The winners of the Clio Image Awards are propelled forward in their career by this high accolade, and only good can come of this. May 5th will be a night to remember for many in the fashion and beauty industry as they receive a major career milestone. Just when it didn’t seem like Demarchelier couldn’t be any more successful he surprises us.
