Wet Seal names Judd P. Tirnauer CFO

Wet Seal has named Judd P. Tirnauer their new executive vice president and chief financial officer. Tirnauer will enter his new role on May 1. He succeeds current chief financial officer Thomas R. Hillenbrandt who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Hillenbrandt has not disclosed what his next move after Wet Seal will be.

Tirnauer was most recently vice president and chief financial officer of Destination Maternity. In that role he oversaw the finance team, and various operations of the company including real estate, procurement, and marketing partnerships.

In a statement, Tirnauer said, “I look forward to applying my financial and operational expertise as we work to connect customers with the new, reinvigorated Wet Seal brand.”

Tirnauer will have his work cut out for him in his new role.

Last January, Wet Seal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and was eventually sold to Versa Capital Management. The teen retailer has been struggling to compete with other brands in the market like Forever 21 and H&M. Wet Seal has downsized over the last several years, and is now attempting to reposition themselves in the market and hopefully make a comeback.
