American Eagle is testing out a new rental service. Called Style Drop, consumers can pay a monthly subscription fee of 49.95 dollars to borrow up to three items at a time and swap out items during the month.

The monthly fee also covers shipping, returns, rental exchanges and laundry. Rental consumers can cancel the service at any time.

Style Drop is reportedly in a pilot phase, and American Eagle is not the first brand to opt for a subscription service to make online shopping more convenient for its consumers. Following Rent the Runway's success across numerous markets, retailers have been trying out mail-order rental or try-on options.

For example, Amazon Prime's Prime Wardrobe allows shoppers to try before they buy when shopping online, a service that has recently expanded to the UK market.
