Amiri opening two more retail stores

It’s good to be Mike Amiri right now. The designer recently was nominated for Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and now he’s also adding to his retail footprint for his namesake brand Amiri. After opening a store in his hometown of Los Angeles on Rodeo Drive earlier this year, Amiri has added two more stores in New York and Las Vegas.

The new 2106-square-foot space at 76 Greene Street opened in SoHo on Saturday. On September 30, a new 1840-square-foot store will open at the Wynn resort in Las Vegas.

The Rodeo Drive store has been very successful so far for Amiri, and according to an interview with WWD, the store is exceeding projections. Amiri is taking a slow and steady approach to retail expansion as he wanted to focus on his wholesale business first, and his current list of wholesale partners ranges from Neiman Marcus to The Webster.

While Amiri is a Los Angeles-based brand, their strongest customer base is in New York City. Amiri saw a New York store as a logical progression in the expansion of their retail footprint.

The New York store will follow the same interior design and merchandise concept as the L.A. store where it is designed to feel like a gallery where the clothing collection is merchandised alongside art and furniture that’s also for sale. The store will also feature limited-edition products exclusive to the NYC store.
