Arc'teryx opens first climbing-focused store in Venice, California

Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx Equipment has opened its newest store on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California. Opened on October 3, 2026, the location marks the brand’s first retail concept dedicated exclusively to climbing and the next evolution of its presence in Southern California.

Arc’teryx Abbot Kinney pairs a curated, climb-focused assortment with a climbing wall, a lounge, an outdoor patio and a beta board. The location is the fourth retail spot for the brand in Los Angeles and its fifth in Southern California.

“At Arc’teryx, climbing is part of our DNA and community has always been core to how we think about retail,” said Delaney Schweitzer, general manager for North America at Arc’teryx. “The shared connection we have to climb with the Los Angeles community was the catalyst for the creation of this new store concept.”

Schweitzer added that the space preserves the character of an existing building while creating a flexible environment that transitions between retail, climbing and community programming.

The retail space features a focused selection of Arc’teryx climbing apparel and equipment alongside a curated assortment of third-party products. A built-in Grasshopper climbing wall can be activated for events, with routes updated by local partner Long Beach Rising. Nearby, the Beta Lounge offers furniture from local design studio WAKA WAKA alongside climbing publications.

Large-scale athlete imagery, installations, artifacts and an outdoor patio complete the layout. The store will also host Arc Presents, a rotating projection series designed to bring climbing films and talks into the space.

Arc’teryx has established local partnerships with organizations including ABA and Long Beach Rising to support its community programming. Long Beach Rising will play an ongoing role by managing the climbing wall routes and supporting product selections.

“Our best stores are shaped by the communities they serve,” said Stephanie Jamieson, senior director of brand community for North America at Arc’teryx. “We wanted to create a place that LA climbers would genuinely want to spend time in: somewhere to learn from one another, connect with the local scene and find new ways to get involved.”
