Australian label We Are Handsome confirms move to Los Angeles

Los Angeles just gain another popular cult Aussie label. We Are Handsome, Australian-based swimwear brand, confirmed this month that they will be permanently moving the brand to the city of Angels.

At Miami Swim Week, on July 19, Apparel News reports that the announcement for the move was made an at editorial brunch. Moving the swimwear headquarters to Los Angeles is a strategic move as it is personal. Jeremy Somers, co-founder of the brand, grew up in Los Angeles. Although the brand is currently based in Australia, the move to the US will help serve the company as well. According to Somers, the brand’s biggest market currently is in the US. The official date for the brand’s move is not yet released, but according to Apparel News, it should be before the end of the year.

The brand was founded in 2009 by husband-and-wife team Jeremy and Katinka Somers. The swimwear pieces are made by hand with the high-quality material Lycra. The designs are all printed with high-density. Their in-house artist makes limited edition, unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for swimwear. Their clients include celebrities such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Diane Kruger and more. Currently, the brand is stocked in over 38 countries and is available at premium boutiques and selected online stores. Each piece is 100 percent Australian designed, although with the new move, Los Angeles may have more of an influence in that.
