Bio is planning to open a new shopping concept in SoHo. Off of Broadway, the retail space is debuting as a “shop-eat-drink-meet” experience for customers.
The 10,000 square foot space is mostly met for shopping and its retail merchandise, however Bio is incorporating more aspects into its boutique. As reported by WWD, the space will featured 32 “galleries” including fashion brands, and a restaurant and bar. Additionally, the boutique will also have a runway space. While customers are shopping through Bio’s products, they will also be able to enjoy the “experience” of Bio. Because most of the merchandise retailed are online brands, customers will be able to have the in-person experience of shopping. “People will come specifically to feel and touch the merchandise,” Mitchell Hochberg, president of Bio’s development company Lightstone, told WWD.
The idea of having a concept space, designed by David Rockwell, with more features than just shopping is mostly a trend from all of the retail pop-ups that have been successful this year. In 2016 alone, Wet Seal, Bristol, Cuyana, OSWLA all opened temporary retail spaces in either Los Angeles or New York. By adding these concept elements, Bio is implementing more innovations in the boutique, changing the typical shopping experience.
