Italian footwear label Bruno Magli is set to open a concept store in New York City, which will span over 2,000 square feet (186 square meters). The store is to feature the brand’s latest styles of men’s and women’s shoes, handbags, socks, and small leather goods. In addition, the location will host cultural events and exhibitions promoting Italian culture.

The store, which is set to open on September 1st, will be located at 120 Wooster Street, just steps away from other luxury stores such as Chanel, Gucci, and Tiffany & Co.

“Opening our concept store in SoHo is really about having a more direct relationship with our Bruno Magli consumer," said Cory Baker, Chief Operating Officer of Marquee Brands, which owns the brand Bruno Magli, in a statement.

"Not only are we seeing Bruno Magli grow in awareness among a younger, sophisticated consumer through our social media outreach, but also our brand loyalists and new fans alike will appreciate experiencing the brand in a dynamic environment that will be part retail, part museum as well as social café”, added Baker.

Bruno Magli founded the company in 1936, in his native Bologna, alongside his siblings Marino and Maria. They only crafted women’s shoes for the first ten years, and all creations were made to order. The business expanded to men’s shoes in 1947 and opened its first retail store in Bologna in 1967. Handbags, apparel and accessories were added to the company’s portfolio in the 1990’s.

Marquee brands is an American company which focuses on brand acquisition, licensing and development. Based in New York, it acquired Bruno Magli in 2015. The company also owns BCBG Max Azria, BCBGeneration, Ben Sherman and Body Glove.
