California Market Center makes changes to showroom floors

Located in downtown Los Angeles, the California Market Center serves as one of the premier showrooms in the fashion district. Recently, the CMC announced that it is going through new changes and alterations by adding more exhibition space and efficiently allocating showroom space.

The building is undergoing changes in order to stimulate growth in the local area. “The CMC is becoming one of the most sought-after destination venues in DTLA,” executives of the CMC told Apparel News of the new transformations. The space will consolidate showrooms onto certain floors and also add more exhibition space. The second floor will undergo the most changes, which is currently being vacated at the moment to allow for the metamorphosis into an exhibition hall. The idea to create a more fluid overall experience for trade show attendees. “The major renovation of the entire second floor will address these needs [for space] and provide a more convenient trade show and event space for the building,” the building’s executives stated to the publication.

The CMC currently has 13 floors including showrooms, exhibition space, and more. Showrooms at the buildling include Janelle Moore, Mac & Lou, Season After Season, Julie Smith Kids, and more. Due to the recent changes, currently only some showrooms remain in tact such as Mary Minser Sales, Alberto Makali, Stop Staring!, and Frank Lyman Design. The second-floor changes have caused for some showrooms to move. The showrooms were notified in December although, as reported by Apparel News, no exact date was given. Currently, the changes are set to be completed by early April although no date is confirmed.
