Australian-based retailer Cotton On is known as a West Coast staple spot for effortless basics. The brand recently surpassed over 1 billion dollars in revenue through its U.S. presence.

Cotton On currently is in 13 states across the U.S. The Cotton On Group has 118 stores across the nation with a majority of its largest label, Cotton On, based in the West Coast. Based on current exchange rates, the company passed over 1 billion dollars in revenue in the last year up until June. With continued success, the company has plans to continue to expand in the U.S. by 20 percent in the next fiscal year. “Even though we’re across those 13 states, we’re still concentrating on this part of the country,” Mark Pan, U.S. general manager of the company, told WWD. Although originated in Australia, the label is known for its SoCal-based style including sheer tops, graphic tees, and laid-back apparel. “[We have] a footing in other parts of the country, [but] the more near-term growth focus is on the West Coast,” Pan told the publication. The company is going to open six more stores in California by the end of October. The stores will be located in Long Beach, West Covina, Santa Ana, Torrance, San Diego, and Valencia.

The Cotton On Group was first established in 1991 in Australia by founder Nigel Austin. Currently the company has over 1,300 stores in 17 countries across multiple brands. The brands include Cotton On, Cotton On Kids, Factorie, Ruby, Typo, and more. Each brand has a different niche ranging from womenswear, children’s apparel, menswear and more. Prices for the brand range from approximately 19.95 to over 50 dollars. The brand has about 1,500 U.S. employees.
