Los Angeles - The much-anticipated “Fashion Wing” of the West debuted this week in Southern California. Brought to Torrance by Simon Property Group, the new retail plaza opened as an extension of the Del Amo Fashion Center.
Nordstrom debuts new location at Del Amo center
The shopping center entails a “Fashion Wing” that covers two levels and spans over 140,000 square feet. The wing features over 100 brands including some exclusive South Bay labels. “South Bay holds a special place with us--we started serving customers here nearly 30 years ago, and we owe them a lot for helping us build our business here over the years,” said Bob Middlemas, Nordstrom Executive Vice President and Southern California Regional Manager. The center added more of these brands in order to help transform Torrance into a regional retail powerhouse. Brands that will be available for Del Amo shoppers include Michael Kors, J. Crew, Madewell, Kate Spade, Hugo Boss, Guess, Vince Camuto, Zara, Uniqlo and more. More stores will join the Fashion Wing this holiday season and open before Thanksgiving.
The wing also includes a new Nordstrom location, which will be Simon’s 28th store for the company. Nordstrom’s opening anchored the wing’s debut at the Del Amo Fashion Center. “The addition of Nordstrom and so many top brands solidify Del Amo as a retail landmark in Southern California,” said David Contis, President of Simon Malls. The store’s new opening serves as a relocation from its past residency at South Bay Galleria. The leading fashion retailer will offer brands such as Topshop, Topman, Rag & Bone, Elizabeth and James, Tory Burch, and more. In addition, the store will offer personal stylists for their shoppers. The opening gala for the store totaled with more than 1,500 guests.
Del Amo Fashion Center to undergo more renovations in 2016
Although the new Fashion Wing debuted already, the shopping center is still undergoing changes. The next phase of the plaza’s transformation will include renovations of existing stores. The changes will be made to Macy’s Men, Home & Furnishings and Sears. Some of the transformations including replacing tile floors, new glass handrails, LED lighting, and new entrances. The changes are scheduled to be complete in 2016.
The Del Amo Fashion Center is a South Bay retail destination that offers shopping, entertainment, and dining. The entire plaza has more than 200 stores including Macy’s, H&M, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Coach, and more. The indoor mall offers menswear, womenswear, jewelry, footwear, and children's clothing. The center serves communities of nearby cities including Long Beach, Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Lomita, and more.
