Fred Segal makes comeback with West Hollywood return

Los Angeles - Earlier this year, Fred Segal had shuttered its Santa Monica location, due to a new property redevelopment plan. It seems that in 2017, the brand is planning to come back by opening new locations, specifically a new West Hollywood boutique.

The earlier space, which boasted 24,000 square feet, had closed due to new developments. At the time, the Los Angeles-based brand had no confirmed announcements of a new location opening in the city. Recently however, Fred Segal confirmed it will be returning to its L.A. roots with a West Hollywood flagship. Business of Fashion has confirmed that the paperwork for the new location has been done, as a new lease has been signed for the flagship. The store is speculated to return with the same green ivy-covered aesthetic as its old location.

The new space will encompass 22,000 square feet and open off of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevard. The flagship is set to open in Fall 2017, with no exact date yet confirmed. Similarly to its other flagships, the store will offer its womenswear, menswear, lifestyle and accessories merchandise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the store will occupy the space across two luxury residential buildings and will featured shop-in-shop and pop-in experiences with the new store opening. The store will additionally have a restaurant and wine shop featured by restaurateur Bill Chait.

Fred Segal to open Los Angeles store in Fall 2017

As reported by BOF, the new shop will feature over a dozen of these concept stores in-house. As for the brand it will feature for its temporary concept shops, Fred Segal has not yet announced that information, but it will likely be upcoming local designers that are complementary to the Fred Segal brand.

The return to Los Angeles comes after Fred Segal has just brought on a new head of the company. Allison Samek just took over as chief executive for the company, after having worked closely with the brand in the past. In revamping the brand with this new flagship, the hopes are that the new boutique will become a hit more popular than even the last prime L.A. store. “We believe that Fred Segal Sunset will become the next iconic LA destination, as Fred Segal stores have always been,” she told BOF.
