Los Angeles - Upscale retailer Fred Segal is currently planning to shutter one of its Los Angeles locations. Due to a new property redevelopment plan, the trendy fashion label is now closing its Santa Monica flagship.

The space currently occupies 24,000 square feet and is set off of Broadway. The store’s closure has nothing to do with personal business reasons. As reported by WWD, the boutique is closing due to new developments. Monica del Borrello, business development director, told the publication that the property will be “redeveloped.” There was no confirmed date for when Fred Segal will close, however it will be by the end of the month. At the moment, there are no plans for a relocation for the store.

However, the luxe clothing retailer did confirmed earlier this year that it would open a new space in the near future. Sandow, which acquired Fred Segal in 2012, plans to open a 20,000 square foot flagship at the Runway at Playa Vista this fall. The Santa Monica location is currently not owned by Sandow. New boutiques that come underway by Fred Segal however, will be under Sandow’s management.
