Freida Rothmans adding sunglasses

Just right after the summer solstice, Freida Rothman has added a new category to their offerings: sunglasses. The designer, who has long been known for her jewelry, will be releasing a collection of sunglasses inspired by her jewelry line. As part of the launch, Rothman will be releasing a new style everyday leading up to the collection's full release on July 1.

Styles include a classic "Jackie O" frame, the "Daphne" an updated cat-eye frame, the "Alex" a tortoise aviator frame, and the "Hadlee" a modern-frame done in 14k gold vermeil, a material used in several other styles. In regards to her launch into the sunglass business, Rothman was quoted saying to WWD, "“I always dreamed [of] expanding into a lifestyle brand. As a designer, I am known for my intricate details. I want the Freida Rothman client to envision my jewelry as it comes to life in my first-ever eyewear collection.”

Price points for the collection range between 165 dollars and 245 dollars. It will be sold at both Rothman's SoHo boutique, and the brand's website. Who knows what direction Rothman could go in next as she expands her brand, but, these sunglasses seem like a great start.
