Growing department store Stein Mart adds three SoCal locations

Stein Mart Inc. is a United States based department store that offers fashion merchandise including menswear, womenswear, accessories, shoes, and home decor. The store plans to expand its store by opening 11 new stores including three stores designated in southern California. Last year, the company opened nine new stores, hitting and increasing their goal this year by two.

The Florida-based retailer is opening a store their first ever San Francisco Bay Area location on March 12, according to WWD. Following that opening, they plan to open their SoCal stores before December 2015.

In order to keep their efficiency and success in the SoCal area, Stein Mart told the trade publication that it is looking for “efficiency in advertising, supply chain, and, of course, name recognition.” According to RTTNews, their total sales for the four-week period ending in February 28, 2015 of 88.6 million dollar. Stein Mart has had a 4.9 percent increase in total sales for the four week period ended in March 1, 2014. With increasing revenue, the department store is set for its new locations spread out among the West Coast.

Along with four new stores opening in California, Stein Mart plans to open new locations in Georgia, Arizona, and Virginia as well to increase their customer base.
