Los Angeles – Los Angeles-based label Skingraft just received a new investor. Innov8, an investment holding company, recently confirmed that it has invested in the modern, high-end label.

The partnership came at a opportune time for the L.A. line. Jonny Cota, co-founder of the brand, told WWD that the partnership came after multiple investment companies the brand had come across that were “never the right fit.” “Previous investors offered money without any guidance,” Cota told the publication. Unlike other competitors, Innov8 has experience in both manufacturing in category expansion. Those experiences led Cota to decide to work with them. Through the partnership, Innov8 has opened up Skingraft’s manufacturing resources and streamlined its processes. The investment will also help lead an increased wholesale distribution plan, according to WWD. The investment will help expand the company domestically, as its presence is mostly based in Europe.

Currently, Skingraft is sold in 30 stores including boutiques in both U.S. and Europe. Brothers Jonny and Christopher Cota founded the brand in January 2006. The brand first started off a custom business for use of leather materials. Now, the line offers a fully fledged line of clothing including tops, bottoms, basics, and more. Their newest Spring 2016 collection retails from 100 to 1,250 dollars in price. The brand’s leather pieces are produced in Bali, while other garments are manufactured in China. The brand plans to start producing some of their product in Los Angeles, specifically denim.
