Even Kanye West has finally agreed that 3000 dollars for a jacket with faux fur is a bit excessive. The rapper has announced that his next collection for Yeezy will be at a lower price point than the previous two collections. Despite the question of whether or not it is surprising that Kanye West's collections continue to sell out, he is definitely experiencing sales success.

It's curious then as to why he would choose to lower the price point for items that sell out within 24 hours. His collections are expected to be such a success that when Yeezy Season 1 hit stores at Barney's New York, customers had to arrive the night before to receive a ticket to get in line at the store the next morning to shop the collection. The line sold out in record time, and was definitely a hit for both Barney's and Kanye West. Apparently, it isn't that absurd to charge upwards of 2000 dollars for a destroyed sweater after all.

The prices for Yeezy have been steadily declining though. For his first ever collection, the price for a sweater was 2600, a pair of thermals was 405 dollars, and sweatpants were above 1000 dollars. When West launched Yeezy Season 2, the most expensive item in the entire collection was a 1205 dollar trench coat, with the rest of the pieces costing only a few hundred dollars.

Kanye West to reportedly lower prices for Yeezy season 3

Yeezy Season 2 has yet to hit stores however. So, if you want to wear a piece from the Yeezy line it could cost you a few grand.

This week though, a TMZ cameraman approached Kanye West and jokingly asked him about lowering the prices for his collection so he could wear them. West responded saying that he would get the prices lowered.

A representative for Yeezy didn't immediately reply for comment when asked if they would confirm if Kanye would be lowering prices again for Yeezy Season 3.

Perhaps West's strategy is to continue making his clothes more accessible to the masses. Putting his line closer to a contemporary price point rather than a high luxury price point could actually help generate more revenue for the brand.

We'll see if West will put his money where his mouth is when it comes time for Yeezy Season 3.
