Kate Spade might have just shuttered their lower priced label Kate Spade Saturday, but the company is trying a new approach to something affordable now. The line debuted at NYFW, and offers casual pieces that can be paired with Kate Spade New York or Kate Spade pieces.

The new label was named in honor of the street where Kate Spade opened her first store in New York City. Kate Spade Saturday was originally priced about 50 percent below the Kate Spade New York line, but, this time around this new label will be priced closer to the Kate Spade New York line. It will be carried in Kate Spade stores, several select retailer partners, and on katespade.com.

The first Broome Street collection will encompass about 50 pieces, and will also include totes. While Kate Spade is popular for their handbags, they chose to focus on ready-to-wear for the launch of this collection. Weekend sensibility is a major theme behind this collection, with offerings including woven shirts, cotton t-shirts, and denim.

They went with a neutral color palette as they wanted something that would be able to work with everything. The first collection will also feature a number of outerwear pieces, including a khaki trench coat and denim jacket. Retail prices for the collection will range from 85 dollars to 898 dollars.

Deborah Lloyd, President and CEO of Kate Spade, told WWD that Broome Street will be a better for the company than Kate Spade Saturday. "This one is designed to effortlessly sit and work with the Kate Spade New York line. It will be shown in our own stores and online. It will fit seamlessly together with everything we do."
