Kohl's to hire mass amounts for holiday season

For the holidays coming up, it’s not uncommon for retailers to do a bit of seasonal hiring. Department store Kohl’s just announced its plans for this fall and will be hiring an estimate of over 69,000 temporary seasonal employees.

Last year, Kohl’s hired approximately the same amount of seasonal workers. However, by the end of this year, Kohl’s will have closed down 18 of its stores. This means that due to the decrease in locations, the company’s ratio of seasonal workers has actually increased. Currently, there are positions available at over 1,100 Kohl’s locations throughout the country including 49 states. The company anticipates hiring approximately 50 workers per store so that this year’s holiday season will run smoothly. In total, this number is estimated to be 9,500 seasonal workers including e-commerce fulfilment, credit operations, and distribution positions.

In addition to making the department store’s more accessible throughout the end of the year, Kohl’s also extended the option of buying online and picking up the order in-store. These seasonal associates who will be hired on will be in charge of fulfilling those orders. Hiring already began last month and will continue through mid-November.
