Macy’s Inc announced plans to hire approximately 80,000 people for temporary positions at its Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers across the United States for the holiday season.

Applicants are encouraged to participate in the company’s hiring event, set to take place in Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores on October 28. Those unable to attend the event can apply via the dedicated websites macysjobs.com or bloomingdalesjobs.com .

Approximately 23,500 of the 80,000 seasonal positions will be based in direct-to-consumer fulfillment facilities which support sales generated by the company’s different channels. “This is an increase of 5,500 positions compared to 2017”, informed the company in a statement. About 1,500 people will be hired to interact with customers via phone, email and online chat. An additional 1,500 employees will support Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade and other holiday events.

“Seasonal colleagues play an especially important role in the Macy’s holiday shopping experience”, said John Harper, Macy’s Chief Stores Officer, in the statement.
