What kind of weekend-event offers customized fittings, one-of-a-kind pieces, stylist advice and designer tricks of the trade? A temporary pop-up shop hosted by Los Angeles-based designer Magda Berliner.

The four-day event will be hosted at Curve, high-end retail destination known for its luxury, cutting-edge pieces. Starting Thursday, July 2, the stylist and clothing curator will make an appearance at the womenswear shop. Berliner will cater to guests and assist with customized fittings with pieces from her unique lace collection. The designer in the past has teamed with Shopbop in order to release her collection for prospective clients. The pop-up’s purpose allows otherwise online-shoppers to come in and try the pieces for themselves before committing to a purchase.

The collection includes a plethora of lace clothing, all specialized and custom-made into rare pieces. This includes lace-detailed, transparent skirts; modest bodices with embroidered lace; and backless crop tops with intricate elements. One of Berliner’s dresses goes for 2,640 dollars in price. Other pieces range in price approximately from 847 to 1,870 dollars.

Part of Berliner’s fame came from a famous lace design that Ashley Olsen wore roughly nine years ago. Since then, according to the Los Angeles Times, fans were curious on where to buy the exact dress. "I was getting emails from young girls who wanted the same dress, but I had to explain that each dress was one-of-a-kind and had to be custom made,” Berliner told the publication.

The garments that Berliner uses are from reclaimed vintage lace. The designer debuted her lace-driven ready-to-wear brand in 2001. Signature details of Berliner’s style include mixing various fabrics, hand-crafted lace-detailing, and unconventional use of skins and metals in her collections. Works of Berliner include designing for Nuala for Puma. Berliner gained an education for fashion in Los Angeles at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM).

Her pop-up will remain open for the weekend at Curve at the Malibu Country Mart.
