Los Angeles - Specialty department store Nordstrom just announced that it’ll be expanding its stores in a way. Space, which is an in-store boutique that launched last year, is opening in four more Nordstrom locations this year.

Space serves as a concept shop inside of Nordstrom that rotates established designers as well as up-and-coming artists. Throughout the year, the in-store boutique has worked to establish itself as its own name and brand distinguishable from Nordstrom. In an effort to expand, Space is planning to open more locations this year. Two of the new Space locations just opened this past week. In Nashville, Space opened in Nordstrom at The Mall in Green Hills on August 24. This past weekend, The Grove’s Nordstrom location also introduced Space. The two locations that will open later this year will be in Toronto as well as at Yorkdale Centre. Both of these cities will be getting Space’s concept boutique inside their Nordstrom openings.

The concept idea Space was launched originally by Olivia Kim. Kim currently serves as the vice president of creative projects at Nordstrom. The idea of the shop was to bring in both advanced designers and emerging creatives. Some of the designers that have been at previous Space shops include Simone Rocha, Comme des Garçons Collection, Vetements, and more. The store offers apparel, handbags, shoes, accessories, and more. The space is also distinct from Nordstrom with vibrant pop pink colors in furniture and fixtures to give it a more artistic feel. The goal with Space is ultimately to have a place where both up-and-comers and established designers can showcase their brands.
