Nordstrom plans for full-line store in Carlsbad

Nordstrom, a leading specialty retailer, announced that it will open a full-line store in Carlsbad, California. The store is set to open in the fall of 2018.
The Seattle-based company will open the new store in a new retail promenade that will be built by Caruso Affiliated. The store will be 124,000 square feet and will be the brand’s fifth full-line store in the greater San Diego area. "We're grateful for the more than 30 years of support we've received from our customers in San Diego County and we're thrilled at the opportunity to better serve many of those customers with a store closer to home," said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom, Inc. The retailer states that the opening is a great opportunity to have a new, open-air shopping experience for its customers near the San Diego area. The new development will also house other “high-quality retailers, local chef-driven restaurant concepts and other key elements to complement Nordstrom,” according to Rick J. Caruso, founder and chief executive officer of Caruso Affiliated.
Nordstrom currently operates two full-line stores at properties by Caruso Affiliated including their location at the Grove and at the Americana at Brand. These two locations are based in Los Angeles and Glendale respectively. At the moment, Nordstrom operates four full-line stores and four Nordstrom rack stores in San Diego County.
The retailer was founded in 1901 in is currently based in Seattle. Today, the company operates 204 stores in the United States and Canada. Nordstrom operates with over 10,000 employees currently. The company’s first Nordstrom was opened in San Diego in 1981. Returning to its roots, the newest full-line addition is expected to open in Fall 2018.
