Abbot Kinney just added a new cultural-fashion hub to its list of high-end retailers. Open the Kimono, global loungewear brand, just recently opened up shop on the popular street in Venice, California.

The new space will officially open on Saturday, July 25, according to LA Racked. This will be the brand’s first bricks-and-mortar store. Neighboring stores such as Satine, the boutique will effectively match the strip’s hip, urban shoppers’ vibe. Open the Kimono is a new, emerging label that is establishing itself as a retailer through their first space. According to the brand’s Facebook page, the brand was founded earlier this year by founder and designer Hartley. The Saturday opening will serve as the brand’s launch party with the designer himself appearing in order to interact with customers.

The brand serves as a Southern California-inspired loungewear label with a twist on Japanese fashion. Including kimonos as a staple of the brand, the company is known for creating thoughtfully-made pieces that are intrinsically one-of-a-kind items. Designed by Ibby Hartley, all of the kimonos are handmade and designed in Venice. “We think of each kimono as a piece of art,” the brand states on its website. Their website is not yet fully operational as a “coming soon” tagline rests under the brand’s headline.
