California-born brand Outerknown—which was co-founded by American professional surfer Kelly Slater—has announced the opening of its first-ever brick-and-mortar retail experience. Located at The Point in Southern California town Manhattan Beach, which is known as home to a large surf community, the new store is designed to be an immersive experience for the consumer.

“When I started Outerknown four years ago, I wanted people to think about what they were putting on their bodies and how that product was made,” Slater said in a statement. “We’ve grown so much in that time and opening a store is the next step in furthering our mission.”

The 1,600-square-foot space features the brand’s top-selling items including its S.E.A. Jeans, Blanket Shirts, and women’s jumpsuits in a fashion that allows guests to “discover the story behind each style’s design inspiration and sustainable innovation.”

“We’re loving the fact that our product stories and responsible innovation can really shine in this space. Space will always evolve, just like our monthly drops, and we’ll be planning many reasons to celebrate with the local community,” co-founder and creative director John Moore shared.

As an immersive space for its consumers, the Outerknown store will also serve as a host for local events where visitors can gather after morning surf sessions, meet to learn about the apparel industry’s impact on the environment, and more.

Outerknown’s chief executive officer Mark Walker shared that the brand “wanted to create a physical manifestation of the brand that would allow customers to touch, feel and try on [the] product.”

The Outerknown flagship is located at 850 South Pacific Coast Highway, El Segundo, CA.
