Los Angeles - SoCal brand Planet Blue is coming to the East Coast. The bohemian-styled retailer is opening a new flagship in SoHo this upcoming May.

The store will open off of Lafayette St. in Manhattan. The reason Planet Blue chose this location was due to their increasing market online in that area. Although the brand is popular on the West Coast, it’s also doing well in its New York market. “New York City has always been our number 2 e-commerce market,” vice president of retail David Lindell told Apparel News. Last year, the brand hosted a summer pop-up in New York as an experiment. “We always had the Hamptons on our radar,” Lindell told WWD of the pop-up. Assuming that the pop-up did well, it’s natural that the brand’s next step would be to open a permanent store in the city. The new boutique will officially open May 1 of this year.

Planet Blue has been expanding within the last year in retail. In 2015, the brand opened a store in Dallas as well as Atlanta. The SoCal brand also opened a boutique in Newport Beach last August. It’s not yet confirmed what the New York location will look like, but typically the brand’s store have a rustic, beach-inspired vibe. It’s likely that the new flagship will also follow suit with this theme.
