The long-awaited shopping haven that has been reported to arrive this summer is finally hosting its opening. The El Segundo property will celebrate its grand opening this weekend starting July 30.

New shopping retail plaza set to open July 30 in El Segundo

The retail plaza will serve as the South Bay’s newest shopping and dining destination. Complete with fresh, new stores, restaurants, and an outdoor plaza; The Point will allow guests to experience shopping with a new round of merchants. The newest endeavor plans to have a weekend-filled list of events for all residents of the surrounding communities. The total space will occupy over 115,000 square feet. The location of El Segundo was chosen due to its laid-back atmosphere.

On Thursday, July 30, the plaza will host a grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The next day, SoulCycle, an indoor cycling concept, will bring its indoor-fitness routines to The Point. As one of the plaza’s first tenants to open, SoulCycle will host a cycling experience for guest at the outdoor plaza. Instructors will be present in order to run the cycling class for participants. Later that day, an Eagles tribute band, The Long Run, will also provide a free concert.

The Point opens in South Bay introducing retail stores and restaurants

“We’re excited that our neighbors and visitors soon will be able to indulge in the fantastic array of shops and restaurants that will make The Point a destination unlike anything else in the South Bay,” said Jeff Kreshek, vice president of Federal Realty West Coast Leasing. The idea of the property is to create a communal shopping space unlike any others in SoCal. “The Point is designed to become the South Bay’s Living Room, and that is exactly what our opening weekend events will showcase,” said Kreshek.

Merchants that will open this weekend at the outdoor plaza include Athleta, Bella Beach Kids, Lou & Grey, Lucky Brand, Marmi, Michael Stars, No Rest For Bridget, North Italia, ShopHouse, SoulCycle, True Food Kitchen, and Vicara Aveda Salon. Throughout the later half of this year, other storefronts will debut as well. These retailers include 20 Lounge Nail Bar, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Kit and Ace, Madewell, Mendocino Farms, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Planet Blue, Prana, San Lorenzo Bikinis, Simms Craft Shack, SIX:02, Smitten Ice Cream, Superba Food + Bread and more. Restaurants that are expected to open at the new space include North Italia, ShopHouse, True Food Kitchen and more.
