Walmart is entering the world of subscription apparel services. The retail giant has announced a partnership with Kidbox, the company sending clients a personalized selection of kidswear items from more than 120 brands. Walmart customers can now order a Kidbox via Walmart’s website, after completing a short questionnaire about their child. Each box contains four to five pieces and costs 48 dollars -- approximately 50 percent off the suggested retail price for all items combined, according to a statement by both companies.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kidbox to introduce our first kids’ subscription apparel service”, said Denise Incandela, Head of Fashion for Walmart’s US e-commerce, on the company’s website. “Over the last year, we have significantly expanded our portfolio of kids’ fashion brands as part of our broader effort to establish Walmart.com as a destination for fashion. Our partnership with Kidbox enables us to round out our offering with additional national and premium kids’ brands”

Walmart added that the partnership with Kidbox serves to complement its kidswear assortment, which currently comprises over 100 brands, including Betsey Johnson, Kapital K, Levi’s, Limited Too and The Children’s Place.

Founded in 2016 by Haim Dabah, Kidbox curates kids clothing by pairing a team of stylists with proprietary data science and machine learning. It also has a mission to donate clothing to one million children in need, having given over 15 million US dollars worth of apparel to date. Stitch Fix meets Toms, but then for the childrenswear niche. In 2018 the company launched three brands: Kidbox Miki B, Kidbox Kid’s Club and Kidbox Baby Basics.
