Veja launches Fitz Roy sneaker for SS23
As Veja is rolling out their SS23 collection, the sustainable brand presents a brand new sneaker with an eye-catching material mix, suitable for outdoor activities. The Fitz Roy’s design is sporting dynamic lines referring to classical running or hiking shoes but simultaneously shows the urban design aesthetic VEJA is known for. The profiled sole has been developed for activities from walks in the city to hikes in the outdoors.
The Fitz Roy: Combining technology and sustainability
VEJA and Vibram, an Italian brand specialised in footwear technology, have co-developed a unique formulation using Amazonian rubber for the outsole, and VEJA’s sugar-cane-based E.V.A. for the midsole. Developed after several months of tests, VEJA and Vibram forged together with the ultimate functional sole. The sole is a mix of ecological materials and Vibram’s world-leading technology. It offers a good balance of grip, durability, and abrasion resistance thanks to high-end materials. With an outdoor inspiration either for lifestyle, daily walks, or hikes, it provides protection and support to the foot, as well as waterproofing all around the perimeter of the sole.
The sole is cushioned with L-Foam, which protects against vibration and brings comfort. The foam is made from latex, of which 30% are of natural origin. The outsole is equipped with a Rock-Plate, a horseshoe-shaped cushioning made from 53% sugarcane, designed to provide more stability on uneven grounds. Pebax Rnew, the material used for the upper inserts of the shoe, is 62% bio-based. It is a sturdy material made from Ricinus oil in Brazil, that ensures the shape of the shoe remains. In addition, T.P.U, a thermoplastic polyurethane, serves as a lightweight reinforcement for the seams.
The Fitz Roy will be available in Basalte Black, a grayscale and black colour combination with a bright orange detail, in Gravel Nautico, a beige and white combination with a black ‘V’-logo, as well as Gravel Pierre, a spring-like colourway with white and pink as the main colours and apricot-coloured details in the sole. Lastly, the Fitz Roy is presented in an all black version, including soles, logo and laces in the darkest colour possible. The Fitz Roy will be available for 215 Euros (190.00 British pound; 245.00 US dollar).
