Gap introduces e-commerce in Japan

American fashion and lifestyle retailer Gap has announced

its new Japanese e-commerce sites, allowing customers in Japan to shop Gap and Banana Republic products online.

The new sites will feature Gap’s “Universality” platform, which brings together both Gap and Banana Republic brands in one e-commerce platform, allowing customers to shop Gap, GapKids, babyGap and Banana Republic collections with one shopping basket and one checkout.

Speaking about the launch, Robert Frank, Managing Director for Japan, said: “We’re excited to continue Gap Inc.’s global online expansion and extend our exceptional online experience to our customers in Japan.

“The launch of this e-commerce site reaffirms our commitment to provide our signature American style to people in the most convenient ways possible.”

This is the latest expansion to Gap’s e-commerce sites, the retailer already offers online shopping in America, China, Europe and Canada.
