Popular underwear brand 2(x)ist, known for their men's offerings, has unveiled their first women's collection. In the era of athleisure, 2(x)ist couldn't have picked a better time to launch women's.
The new women's line will be carried exclusively at Bloomingdale's beginning spring 2016. The line will be 50 percent athleisure, 25 percent lingerie, and 25 percent loungewear and sleepwear. Surprisingly, athleisure only makes up 10 percent of their men's wear collection, but their men's business is carried by their intimate wear.
The women's line was heavily influenced by the men's line, with designs from men's re-worked by the brand's Creative Director Jason Scotti. The women's assortment is made up of apparel constructed with French terry and modal, in addition to offerings like low-impact sports bras, leggings, and off-the-shoulder sweatshirts with matching joggers, rompers, and hoodies.
The 2(x)ist logo can be found on several of the pieces, respectfully. Other small details include scalloped hems, keyholes, and X-backs. “We are bringing strength to the marketplace,” Scarlatti said to WWD. “It complements the men’s offering because she is his equal. We focused on fashion forward silhouettes and color.”
Prints are very big in the line, with some including camouflage, kaleidoscope, and geometric patterns. The underwear table top program, which will include a 3 for 30 dollars promotion, includes seamless cotton, modal, and laser-cut micro styles offered in bikini, thong, and boyshort silhouettes. Price point for bralettes is between 18 and 26 dollars. Price points for the athleisure pieces range as low as 26 dollars for a tank top and as high as 68 dollars for a hoodie. Price points for sleepwear are between 34 and 48 dollars.
The women's line is just the beginning to 2(x)ist's growth. CEO Tom Speight, a former president at Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear, has made it clear he wants to turn 2(x)ist into an entire lifestyle brand with swimwear, activewear, watches, and bags by 2016. At the rate 2(x)ist is going with new categories, they look to be well on their way to becoming a much larger and even more influential brand.
