Los Angeles-based brand Amiri, the streetwear brand founded by Mike Amiri, has launched a fashion incubator program for emerging American design talent. Called the Amiri Prize, the program will be open to U.S. residents with a ready-to-wear business that is three years or younger. The first prize will include a 100,000 dollars prize and a year long mentorship from Amiri himself.

According to the program’s website, Amiri’s goal is to “encourage greater inclusivity in the fashion industry and to nurture up-and-coming designers and entrepreneurs.” The panel of judges for the prize includes Amiri himself, Diesel and Y/Project creative director Glenn Martens, celebrity fashion stylist Karla Welch, OTB president Renzo Russo, Harper’s Bazaar digital director Nikki Ogunnaiki, Spunge owner Salehe Bembury, and Union Los Angeles owner Chriss Gibbs.

Applications are required to submit a portfolio of work with two collections and a mission statement about the brand. There is no age limit set on applications. Applications officially open on March 17 at 9 a.m.

“As an independent designer, I have had the privilege to forge an unconventional path and find success outside of the current establishment,” Amiri said in a statement. “With this success must also come the acknowledgment that there is a clear discrepancy of opportunity within the traditional fashion system. The Amiri Prize is tailored to young designers who are often overlooked and to help provide opportunity, knowledge and resources to create a foundation for success.”
