Giorgio Armani has announced that his eponymous label will close the upcoming edition of Milan Fashion Week, and show on the sixth day in support of a longer womens' fashion week.

The decision comes after last Milan Fashion Week, when Armani, who has presented his collection on the last day of the fashion week for several seasons, decided to move his show one day forward in September. Armani previously shared his concern at big the only big designer name to show on the last day of Milan Fashion Week and the lack of international press that would attend.

However, his decision to show on the last day of Milan Fashion Week's next edition, running from February 25 to March 2, allows the Italian Fashion Chamber to host a six-day show, instead of a shortened five-day show.

“I want to personally thank Giorgio Armani who gave proof of great sensitivity and generosity towards the Italian fashion system,” said the Italian Fashion Chamber president Mario Boselli, to WWD.

He also added that Armani would remain a fixed presence on the final day of Milan Fashion Week for several seasons. “This is going to be a structural thing,” said Boselli.
